The MediVegaTM
Cold-Pressed Process

MediVega™ unlocks the purely vegan, kosher benefits of Mediterranean, not by using harsh chemical solvents, but instead crushing the seed or nut and forcing out the oil. This process is the perfect blend of timeless, traditional extractions methods, coupled with the science of producing the highest quality oils.

The nuts and seeds are placed into a cylinder that contains a rotating screw which is able to grind and crush the seeds until oil is extracted and collected. Pure water is the only solvent during this process, which is conducted in a certified Organic facility. The entire process is done at very low temperature, which enables MediVega™ to retain all the vitamins, fatty acids and omegas, as well as other nutrients, in the oil.

After pressing, the oil undergoes filtering to the level of 0.2 microns, a level consistent with pharmaceutical grade purity. The oil is then tested for over 20 markers for quality, and stored in opaque containers in a cool and dark environment to prevent oxidization.

How is this process different from other extraction techniques used by other companies? Some presses use heat to advance the oil extraction process. As seeds inside the cylinder warm, they become softer and more easily are broken down. But this increased efficiency has a price—the added heat can reduce the flavor, aroma and critically, the nutritional content of the oils.

*A 2004 study conducted at London’s Imperial College School of Medicine found that beneficial antioxidants were only found in most commercially offered formulas, in trace amounts. But when scientists tested a cold-pressed formula, they found greater quantities of antioxidants, superior in terms of potential benefits to health.

Also known as Black Cumin Oil, Black Seed has been harvested for at least four thousand years, for its restorative properties. N. sativa seeds were found in several sites from ancient Egypt, including Tutankhamun’s tomb. Seeds were also found in a flask in Turkey from the second millennium BCE. Mentioned in the Bible and Koran for its medicinal effects, N. sativa may have also been used as a condiment to flavor food from ancient times.

Extra Virgin Olive Oil

(Olea europaea)

Olive trees have been grown around the Mediterranean since the 8th millennium BC. The first recorded oil extraction can be found in Exodus, in the Hebrew Bible. The olive and olive oil are both commonly used in cooking. Along with wheat and grapes, the olive is one of three core food plants in the region. Olive oil is also used in cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, and soaps, and has additional uses in some religions.
