About Us

MediVega™ seed oils are used in functional foods, dietary supplements, cosmetics, personal care and pharmaceutical formulations. MediVega oils are sourced from many different types of seeds, including pomegranate, black seed (black cumin), sesame, and almonds, and jojoba.

Our seeds and nuts are harvested throughout the region, and the oils are gently cold-pressed in our parent company N.S. Oils facility. The extraction process is natural, without the use of chemical solvents, and N.S. Oils is a certified organic facility. N.S. Oils is located in the community of Kibbutz Sa’ad in western Israel, where more than two hundred families, four generations, live, pray, work and farm together. One of Israel’s largest producers of carrots, with a quarter of the country’s production, Sa’ad grows citrus crops, avocados, almonds, and potatoes.

The MediVega™ Difference
Purely Mediterranean.

MediVega™’s mission is to bring the goodness of the Mediterranean plants to the world. The Mediterranean diet is based on traditional eating habits from lands that surround the Mediterranean Sea, such as Italy, Greece, Israel, and Spain. The diet also encourages the consumption of local, fresh, and seasonal plants, nourished by the air, waters, and golden sunlight of the Mediterranean region.

The health benefits from seeds, fruits, vegetables and nuts of the Mediterranean diet are supported by clinical evidence. Research has shown that the traditional Mediterranean diet reduces the risk of heart disease. The diet has been associated with a lower level of oxidized low-density lipoprotein (LDL) cholesterol — the “bad” cholesterol that’s more likely to build up deposits in your arteries.

The World Health Organization (WHO) identified the Mediterranean diet as an effective dietary strategy to limit non-communicable diseases (NCDs), currently the leading cause of premature death in the world, for people under 65 years old. The Mediterranean diet has been linked to numerous health benefits, including a lower risk of cardiovascular issues, cognitive decline, metabolic syndrome, obesity, and Type 2 diabetes.

Black Seed Oil

(Nigella sativa)

Also known as Black Cumin Oil, Black Seed has been harvested for at least four thousand years, for its restorative properties. N. sativa seeds were found in several sites from ancient Egypt, including Tutankhamun’s tomb. Seeds were also found in a flask in Turkey from the second millennium BCE. Mentioned in the Bible and Koran for its medicinal effects, N. sativa may have also been used as a condiment to flavor food from ancient times.

Pomegranate, a name derived from Latin and for “seeded apple,” has been cultivated since ancient times throughout the Mediterranean region. Only the seeds are edible and are found inside this large, hexagonal-shaped red fruit. A single pomegranate typically contains about 600 seeds, which are encapsulated in white pith. The pomegranate fruit is low in calories, high in fiber, high in vitamins and high in phytochemicals.

Extra Virgin Olive Oil

(Olea europaea)

Olive trees have been grown around the Mediterranean since the 8th millennium BC. The first recorded oil extraction can be found in Exodus, in the Hebrew Bible. Olive oil is also used in cosmetics, pharmaceuticals, and soaps, and has additional uses in some religions.
